It felt good to finally set the bomb down. I rubbed my shoulder and tried not to let out any moans, lest Ryon tease me about my strength.

Alyssa shoved past me playfully, a smile touching her eyes as she pretended like she hadn’t. I grinned back at her as she went ahead, long legs and tight rump rolling wonderfully with every step. I wanted to catch up and speak to her privately, especially after how we’d spent last night, but Jax strode ahead and beat me to it. Instead, I settled for walking ten paces behind her and daydreaming about the curve of her body molded against mine again, and the smell of her hair. Her hair’s actual scent. Not the coriander bloom extract, which had finally faded. But the deeper scent that was unique to her.

“How are your wounds?” Arthur said at my side. “The ones you obtained on Huskshore.”

I rolled my arm, testing how the motion affected the muscles in my side. “I feel completely normal. Aside from the scar, there’s no hint it ever even happened.”

“Oh.” Arthur seemed disappointed, like I was complimenting Tyronix’s healer and he was jealous.

“The wound wasn’t bad. It was easy to heal,” I quickly said. I raised my voice and added: “It’s a good thing Ryon is too weak to pierce me properly with his daggers, or I would be dead for sure.”

Ryon made a choking noise behind me. “I slowed my thrust once I realized it was you!”

“If you insist, brother.”

“I could have carved a meal off you before you had time to scream. If I wanted to.”

“I’m sure you could have,” I said, bobbing my head patronizingly. Arthur let out a snicker, which only made Ryon even angrier.

“Jax told me that Alyssa took good care of you while you were recovering,” Arthur said, switching topics so suddenly that I nearly stumbled.

“Everyone did.”

“Her more than the others?”

I shrugged one shoulder. “I suppose.”

It was quiet as we walked along.

“I haven’t been with her since before I left,” Arthur said quietly. “I yearn for her touch.”

I frowned. I didn’t like the Frost Mage’s tone. It bordered on accusatory. “As you should,” I said.

“What I am hinting at is that we need a system,” Arthur said. He nodded once to himself. “A system for sharing.”

“A system?” I chuckled. “Brother, she’s not a dinner plate to be used, washed, and then used again by someone else.”

Arthur turned to face me. “That is easy for you to say. You were comforted by her last night.”

“It was the first time I’ve been with her,” I hissed back. “I’m deserving of a woman’s love as much as you are.”

It was Ryon’s turn to snicker behind us. “The loudest babe gets the wet nurse’s teat.”

His comment infuriated me. I wasn’t a child in need of comforting, any more than any of them were. I clenched my fist and opened my mouth to say something biting.

Then I caught a glimpse of Alyssa smiling, sunlight making her teeth gleam. It instantly calmed me down.
